Stefania Bongioanni
was born in Albenga (SV) in 1973, her musical experience starts in 1993
with the “Arcanes” a rock-blues band in which she begins as
singer and author of some lyrics and some songs, the group played in
several concert and recorded some demo-tapes and a CD titled “Quiet and stormy”
for the label Mellow records of San Remo (Italy). In 1995 the
meeting with a local musician, with whom she shares the same interest
in acoustic music, leads to the birth of the “moonchild”,
the compositions are songs of suggestive atmosphere and melodic
ballades (she is the author of the melodies and the lyrics); a genre
that better satisfies her stylistic needs. The group record a demo-tape
titled “Moonchild”.
In 1996 begins her
study of musical and sung celtic tradition, following her deep love for
Britsh Isles and in particular for Scotland. In 1997 starts the
collaboration with a local guitarist and they gave birth to a group of
celtic inspiration, she starts an intense concert activity in
Piedmont, and Norther Italy and records a demo-tape live titled
"Alice's Castle" and print a collection of all lyrics and poetries of
the her songs.
From the spring of the year 2000 he propose a
union between ancient and contemporary instruments, in shape of
concert, with the group of celtic inspiration Tir na moe, of which it is cofounder, with an original repertory of melodies and songs . She continues her activity of author and composer of some music and lyrics for the group.
She is interested in the research of traditional Celtic songs and she
proposes singing courses and workshops with particular interest
for celtic, ancient and modern repertoire.
